The port of Civitavecchia was originally founded by the Roman Emperor Traiano as the gateway to the city of Rome, and it is still referred to as the Port of Rome although it is located around 60 kilometres away.
It is the central hub for all maritime traffic going through the area, and has recently incorporated an up-to-date transport system linking with railways, motorways and airports to help passengers continue on their journey. The harbour is also integral to the areas tourist industry in helping visitors access the capital city and the rest of the Mediterranean.
It is one of the most popular destinations for luxury cruise liners touring the region, particularly now that it is becoming integrated with the rest of Rome and can offer its own comprehensive tourist facilities and a truly beautiful setting close to the heart of Etruria.
With airport shuttles and airport taxis from Rome Ciampino and Rome Fiumicino Airports only 1 hour, why not choose this historical port as the starting point for your next cruise.

Chauffeur stond te wachten met een bordje met mijn naam. Zeer hulpvaardig met de koffer. Keurige auto, nette rijder. Ook bij aankomst wederom hulpvaardig!

Mooie auto ( Mercedes). chauffeur keurig in het pak. Goede prijs/kwaliteits verhouding
Jag tycker att Shuttle direkt är det perfekta transportmedlet. Vänlig och hjälpsam personal, och de kommer på avtalade tider, så det behöver man inte vara nervös för.

Very happy that they were waiting at the airport with our name when we arrived about 45 minutes late. Driver did not speak English but was very courteous and took us directly to our destination. Website made it very easy to make reservations.

The Port of Civitavecchia lies on the west coast of Italy and is the gateway to the magnificent city of Rome for cruise ship passengers. Such is the wealth of ‘must-see’ tourist attractions in the Eternal City that a one day shore excursion provides little more than a glimpse of what the nation’s historic capital has to offer...
The town of Civitavecchia is an Italian sea port just 80 kilometres, or 50 miles, to the west of the capital, Rome. The harbour looks out towards the Tyrrhenian Sea and the name Civitavecchia is translated into English as ‘Ancient Town’. It used to be an Etruscan town until Civitavecchia was built over it in the 2nd century. Modern day Civitavecchia is very different and is seen largely as a cruise and ferry port, connecting the town with Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Tunis and Barcelona...
Civitavecchia should never be seen as just a means to an end, although most people are indeed transiting through the city on the way to catch a ferry to Sardinia or Sicily or embark on a cruise. But even if you’ve got just a short time to spend, there are plenty of attractions to keep you occupied. With a name that translates to “ancient town”, as you’d imagine, there’s a lot of history lurking beneath the streets and harbour of Civitavecchia...
som ovan vill jag det ska stå här
