Sunny Beach: The Ultimate Clubbing Destination

Summer is almost upon us, which means that every true lad will be thinking about one thing: where to go for a booze-fuelled boys’ holiday this year! Ibiza will, understandably, be one of the first places mentioned, but where are some alternatives?

I think that Sunny Beach is a real hidden gem that surpasses Ibiza in many respects. This resort is located on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast – perhaps not the first place you think of for a summer holiday, but, as the name suggests, this place offers plenty of sun, sea and sand. It also has a pulsating nightlife which any party animal will love. Those who have been seem to return year after year and this could easily become a new favourite with your troops.

Another reason I love this destination? It is ridiculously cheap with pints costing less than 50p! Perfect.

Check out our guide to top lads’ activities in Sunny Beach here!

Here is a closer look at the fun that you and the lads could have once the sun goes down:

Bars

Kick-start your evening with a few cheap drinks in any of these great venues to get you pumped for a big night on the town.

Shooters – Brilliantly located on the beach (ideal for a few cheeky daytime drinks), Shooters serves a range of delicious cocktails and also organises fun football and volleyball tournaments to get stuck into (a great way to make some new mates).

Scandals – Missing the big game? Head to Scandals where they show live sport, serve up British drinks, and the entire bar is staffed solely by girls. Unsurprisingly, it is popular with lads!

Amigos Bar – If you are looking for something casual to start the night or looking for somewhere to drink during the day, then head to Amigo’s, where the staff are welcoming and there is no dress code. Feel like dancing on the table? This is the place to do it!

The Flying Dutchman – Sunny Beach has a number of top Dutch bars which will certainly get you in the mood thanks to the fun-loving atmosphere and cheap drinks! This is the pick of the bunch.

Clubs

After a couple of drinks in these bars, you will be ready to move on to the main event – the clubs. You may think that Bulgarian clubs do not hold a candle to the crazy clubs of Ibiza or Magaluf, but you are in for quite a surprise here.

Revolution – If you fancy yourself as a proper clubber then you will want to head to Revolution, which is the most popular club in the resort. Pulling huge names and regularly hosting Ministry of Sound nights, Revolution boasts enormous dance floors, an incredible sound system and loads of great drink deals.

Disco Orange – Prepare yourself for a wild night when you set foot inside Disco Orange as this premier club hosts massive parties every single night, including messy paint parties which are an absolute must.

Mania Disco Club – Right in the heart of the action, Mania Disco Club sees many of the top European DJs pass through, so keep your eyes peeled for big nights here. The club is split over two floors and has a few different rooms, so you can always find a tune that you’ll like.

How to Get to Sunny Beach

Getting the lads organised can be a nightmare, but fortunately, it is easy to get to Sunny Beach and it should not be too much of a challenge if you have pulled the short straw. You will want to fly from London into Bourgas (BOJ), which takes around 3 hours with a few budget carriers making the flight throughout the week.

Probably the hardest part of a holiday is getting from the airport to the hotel (especially with a bunch of rowdy mates!). This is why I recommend pre-booking a Shuttle Direct transfer – a driver will be waiting at the airport so you can simply jump in and enjoy the drive (around 30 minutes) to your accommodation. Speaking of hotels…

Where to Stay

DIT Majestic Beach ResortThe boys will be well impressed with this glamorous-looking hotel, which is also perfectly located 5 minutes from the beach and just a short stagger from the clubs. The hotel has 2 large swimming pools (with a poolside bar) within a cool garden complex, as well as 2 tennis courts and football arenas – the perfect hangover cure. You can also start your nights here at one of the trendy bars or with a good meal at one of the four in-house restaurants.

Iberostar Sunny Beach Resort – The convenient location near the beach and the Old Town of Nessebar is many of the previous guests’ favourite part of this hotel, but you will also love the facilities here which include 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool and a spa centre. There are also 3 onsite restaurants, 2 lobby bars and a premium bar with a lounge area. The rooms have recently been renovated, so everything feels fresh, comfortable and new, which is welcome after a night of heavy drinking…

Hotel Heaven – Just a 500-metre stroll/stagger from the centre of Sunny Beach, you really are in the middle of all of it here so getting out and home each night is no problem. The hotel is a great place to be during the day as it features a large outdoor pool, a cool lobby bar and a brilliant restaurant serving up barbeque and German dishes. There is also another restaurant serving local and international cuisine. The spacious apartments come with their own kitchen, so you can save plenty of cash by eating in if you wish. The rooms also have a balcony with sea views, a living room and air-con.
