Winter sun getaway Playa de las Américas is nestled into the sandy coast of southwest Tenerife – one of the Canary Islands known for its carnivals and bustling tourism industry. Beloved by young revellers all over the world, this sunny beach resort town has built itself a reputation as one of Europe’s premier party destinations. If you’re looking for an unforgettable night out in Playa de las Américas, here are three nightlife hubs you won’t want to miss.
Starco’s
Starco Centre is located about 200 metres inland from Playa de las Américas’ famous beaches. This entertainment complex is packed with bars and restaurants, and is popular with the 18 to 30 crowd. Make a stop at the Mett Bar, open seven nights a week until 4:00am. With a team of DJs playing R&B, chart and 90s music, the irresistible beat of the Mett Bar will have you on the dance floor in no time. The Mett Bar is perfect for stag parties, hen parties and other large groups. If you’re out celebrating with friends, don’t miss the bar’s three-litre fishbowl cocktails.
If you’re looking for more of a club atmosphere, try out Discoteca Tramps, also in the Starco Centre. With a capacity of 2,000, this massive nightclub has three separate music rooms, six bars, a ladies lounge and VIP area. Nicknamed “the king of clubs,” this throbbing super club can satisfy every party animal’s dreams.

The Veronicas Strip
This 200-metre stretch of beachfront bars and clubs is walking distance from the Starco Centre. Another main hub of Playa de las Américas’ nightlife, the Veronicas Strip is aimed at the younger end of the nightlife market, with flashy, bouncy, modern clubs and bright lights. Try O’Neill’s Bar (easily recognisable by its green neon sign), which offers karaoke nights, fancy dress parties and a famous St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Other options include Jumping Jack’s or Sound of Cream, both only a stone’s throw from O’Neill’s. Both are pulsing dance clubs open until the wee hours, giving holidaymakers a chance to dance until sunrise.
The Patch
The Patch tends to be oriented toward a slightly older crowd, with few nightclubs but more karaoke and cabaret bars. Try the popular drag queen karaoke shows if you’re feeling daring. Another popular institution is the Sax Bar, a live rock venue with table service where you can relax with a cocktail and some first-rate music. For a pub-like atmosphere and a taste of the British Isles, try the Gaelic Corner or the Dubliner (conveniently located one on top of the other!), both Irish-style pubs with excellent food and drink.
