The entire dynamic of a family vacation changes once your kids become slightly older. It opens up many possibilities and allows you to soak up more culture and enjoy stress-free evenings in fancy restaurants. However, there is also a lot of pressure to keep the kids happy, entertained and engaged.
Los Cristianos is a fantastic resort on sunny Tenerife which is a great destination for a family holiday. Situated on the south coast of this wonderful Canary Island, Los Cristianos offers plenty of sun, sea and sand on beautiful beaches – but there are also many activities that will help to keep the young ones happy!
Keeping the Kids Entertained
The promenade offers a long stretch of cheerful cafes, bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a pleasant atmosphere in the evenings. Away from the beaches, Los Cristianos has delightful shops, boutiques and other areas of interest. All of this should ensure that it is a holiday that you will all look back on and cherish.
To keep the kids entertained, be sure to try out these excellent outdoor pursuits:
Playa Las Vistas
This wonderful beach will be great fun for the whole family. Take a stroll down the promenade; check out the shops, cafes and restaurants; and stop off for some food before heading down to the beach. Here, sit back and soak up the sun on the sun beds whilst the kids play in the sea (inflatable sea activities are great fun!).
Monkey Park
Somewhere that the whole family can enjoy, Monkey Park is slightly north of Los Cristianos and well worth the short journey. Here you can feed the monkeys, walk through their enclosure and interact with them (completely safe). In addition to the 20 odd species of monkeys and apes, this small yet charming zoo is also home to iguanas, crocodiles, exotic birds and a range of big cats. As a heads up, there are no refreshment facilities in the park, so be sure to eat beforehand or take a snack with you.

Los Cristianos Harbour
Los Cristianos was once an old fishing town and has undergone a huge transformation to become a popular tourist hub. It has retained some of its old charm, most notably with the fantastic harbour. You will notice ferries and fishing boats coming and going from the beach, but you can also visit the harbour and there are plenty of markets, shops and cafes in the surrounding area. From the harbour, it is possible to head out on glass bottom boats, fishing trips, pleasure cruises and diving excursions – these trips will amaze the kids and educate them about the town’s history at the same time.
Escuela de Vela Los Cristianos
With such alluring waters, you will be desperate to get out into the ocean as soon as you arrive here. Head to Escuela de Vela Los Cristianos where you can hire kayaks, paddle boards, boats and more for reasonable prices. Lessons are available from the friendly and expert staff – highly recommended as a fun, rewarding and memorable family activity.
Tenerife Scuba Diving
Due to its superb location on the south coast of Tenerife, there is an abundance of colourful and magical life beneath the surface off the coast of Los Cristianos. To see this up close, Tenerife Scuba Diving offer unforgettable diving sessions which will be an experience that none of you will ever forget. If anybody has any concerns or does not know what to expect, the staff here are very friendly, patient and helpful; this will help to make your underwater adventure both stress-free and highly enjoyable.
