Les Gets is a brilliant Savoyard skiing resort in the Alps. With a terrific atmosphere, great skiing slopes for people of all levels and a buzzing après-ski scene, it is the perfect holiday destination for a group of friends looking for a good time and some great memories.
Winter Sport Activities for You and Your Mates
Skiing
Les Gets has pistes for skiers of all levels, reached by gondola and chair or draglift. If you’re not very confident, you might want to stay within the Chavannes area which has easy blue and green runs. If you fancy something a bit more challenging, though, Mont Chéry has some decent red runs, while the larger resort of Portes du Soleil offers a wider range of slopes.
If you’re more experienced, Mont Chéry’s black runs will provide both the thrill and challenge you’re craving. The slopes are steep and bumpy and the wooded area is a great for hors-piste.
Snowshoeing
While you may all have different skiing levels, I’m willing to bet that most of you haven’t been snowshoeing. So why not discover it together? It is a fun activity that lets you explore the mountains in a whole new way. In Les Gets, you can choose between a half or full day trek and even go in the dark. A half-day takes roughly 3 hours, while the full day trek lasts from 10am to 4pm. Personally, I think that nightshoeing sounds like the most fun. Just picture trekking beneath the stars with your closest friends, venturing deep into the wilderness.
Ice Skating
Les Gets’ ice rink can be found sandwiched between the Chavannes télécabines and the tourist office in the town centre. This great outdoor rink is perfect for a little fun with mates. There’s chart music playing and the views of the snow-covered mountains create a terrific atmosphere. Assuming there aren’t too many people on the ice, you should play tag. Trust me, it’ll be a laugh.
Insider tip: If the rink is closed due to bad weather, Morzine has an indoor one that can be reached by bus.
Après Ski Hang-outs
L’Après Ski Bar
This après ski bar at the foot of the Chavannes slopes is the ideal place to chill out after a draining day shredding the pistes. They have a great range of drinks, from shots and lagers to hot vodka with apple, as well as live DJs on Wednesdays and Sundays. If you want to blow off some steam, their themed nights are the place to be. Or, if you’re up for a bit of banter, challenge each other to a round of table tennis or give their inflatable games a go.
Bar Bush
While this bar is relatively small, it certainly makes up for it in ambiance. With live bands and regular theme nights, you’re bound to have a blast. Better yet, it attracts a lot of English speakers. You never know, you might meet some cool new people – and even if you don’t, seeing your mates in ridiculous costumes for the fancy dress party will be worth the trip.
Inferno Bar Restaurant
To get to this bar, hop on the Nyon cable car – it’ll be at the top. Inferno has terrific themed entertainment, from chilled games and quiz nights to hyped beach and party nights. Drinks are a decent price and they have happy hour from 4:30 to 7pm. This place even has an outdoor terrace where you can sit back, chill with your friends and down your poison.
How to Get to Les Gets
Flying into Geneva Airport is the most convenient way of reaching Les Gets. Swiss, British Airways and easyJet offer direct hour-and-a-half flights from London. You can then book an airport transfer with Shuttle Direct. If you’re on a budget, I’d recommend the shared or group transfer. A friendly driver will meet you at the terminal and take you straight to your chalets in 60 minutes.

Its biggest selling point though? It has a sauna.
