Kick-Back in Konakli: Family Activities for a Relaxing Holiday

If you’re looking to get away from the stresses of everyday life, you need a family holiday to Konakli. This small Turkish town is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing holiday with your loved ones as there are some great accommodation options nearby, beautiful beaches for soaking up the sun and plenty of opportunities for short days out to keep the children happy.

Find out how you and your family can really kick-back in Konakli – there’s more to this area than just a sandy beach!

Top Tip: Side is another fantastic family spot in Turkey – find out what else there is to explore.

Sample Local Cuisine

One of the best ways to experience Turkish culture is to taste some of the regional delicacies. Konakli is home to several traditional taverns and cafes, so head out for a family lunch and enjoy some unusual eats. The area also has its own local market which is a great way to sample all sorts of Turkish treats and perhaps take some home as gifts.

If you want to venture further to dine, I can personally recommend Citirim Restaurant in central Alayna. The restaurant serves fantastic regional dishes, but the extensive menu also includes more familiar meals such as burgers and sandwiches – you needn’t worry if your youngsters are fussy-eaters.

Spend a Day at the Beach

Although it isn’t all about the beaches, you certainly shouldn’t avoid them altogether! Cleopatra Beach in Konakli is one of Turkey’s most stunning sandy coastlines, boasting clear waters, golden sands and a striking backdrop of verdant hills. There are souvenir shops and authentic taverns just a short distance away, and even some water sports opportunities available if you or the children are feeling adventurous. Whether you sunbathe, snorkel or stroll, a day at Cleopatra Beach will be a brilliant addition to your holiday.

Watch a Dolphin Display

Sealanya Park is just a 15-minute drive from central Konakli, and it’s an attraction that is sure to thrill adults and children alike. Visitors can encounter dolphins and seals with an interactive swimming experience, or if you’d prefer not to be the water with the animals, you can sit back and watch their daily performances. Prepare to be amazed as the animals showcase their incredible abilities in and out of the pool – this is definitely something the little ones won’t forget.

Go Shopping

The Konakli shopping centre Megamall opened in 2015, so has exceptional modern facilities and a huge array of shops to browse. Whether you’re looking to treat yourself or buy gifts for friends and family back home, you’re sure to find whatever you need here. There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and fast-food chains around Megamall, so families can easily spend an afternoon shopping together.

Where to Stay

Royal Garden Suite Hotel – Perfect for families, this large hotel provides everything guests could wish for. Adults can enjoy the bar, fitness room and sauna while children splash about in the outdoor pool that boasts several colourful slides. The hotel also has a games room and playground, so the youngsters are spoilt for choice when it comes to onsite entertainment. The restaurant serves à la carte and buffet style menus, but there are plenty of other eateries nearby if guests prefer to explore the area. The family rooms have ample space and have all the usual facilities.

Beach Club Doganay Hotel – This 5-star hotel gives guests the real VIP treatment. Rooms are beautifully furnished and offer fantastic views across the landscape, and the building is just a short walk to the beach as it is right on the seafront. This all-inclusive resort serves excellent cuisine throughout the day and boasts an indoor and outdoor pool. Recreational activities on offer include tennis and darts, and there is also a children’s club – perfect if the adults need a little time to themselves!

How to Get There

From the UK I would suggest flying to Antalya Airport since there are five airlines to choose from that fly direct. There are approximately five scheduled departures per week, so finding a time to suit the children’s sleeping patterns shouldn’t be too difficult. The flight usually takes around four hours, so be sure to take some games to keep the youngsters occupied.

From there, a pre-booked Shuttle Direct transfer to Konakli is your best option. The journey usually takes around two hours and 45 minutes, so it is definitely a good idea to book in advance to make sure you can reach your accommodation as soon as possible.
