Kavos: The Ideal Lads’ Holiday Destination

As a well travelled lady myself, I am very familiar with the concept of a lad’s holiday. Many of my mates have indulged and I have picked up loads of recommendations on some of the best places to go. Kavos, one of the original lads’ holiday destinations, is definitely one of those places. This one time fishing village has now been transformed into a clubbing mecca, with the main strip pumping out the tunes until the early hours of the morning. With a fantastic beach, perfect for sunrise sharing and hangover curing, this place has all the ingredients for a lads’ perfect holiday.

Why Kavos?

Reason 1 – Kavos Nightlife iTunes Podcast

This innovative idea is genius. At the end of your holiday, when you have frustratingly forgotten all those awesome tunes that made your holiday so special, you can subscribe to the podcast and get access to the DJ mixes that made their mark on the resort throughout the season. So popular is this concept now that Kavos Nightlife is releasing monthly mixes, which are great for getting you through the winter season until your next clubbing holiday.

Reason 2 – Great Value

As Kavos doesn’t have the numerous bars that you find in other clubbing holiday destinations, the prices tend to be cheaper and club entrances better value. The bars here, however, are so good at what they do and wherever you go, you get great value for money in terms of atmosphere, entertainment, cocktails and beer. Lots of the clubs host big name DJs throughout the season and yet you don’t pay the extortionate prices of other resorts such as those in Ibiza.

The Barn Bar and Scorers are the best sports bars, but if you want to bust out some moves on the dance floor, then head to Snobs. My favourite clubs include Future Club, because I love Cream and Ministry of Sound (who have taken it over); Club S’ex, because the foam parties are amazing; and Limelight for funky party vibes.

Reason 3 – Cocktail Heaven

Think you know your cocktails? Have you tried a Headfucker? A mainstay in the cocktail world of Kavos, this mind blowing beverage was originally mixed at JC’s Bar. Most bars serve this drink today but I still go back to JC’s for the real thing, which incidentally is served with a condom!

Concocted of gin, vodka, tequila, rum, Malibu, peach schnapps, triple sec, absinthe, orange, cranberry and grenadine, I would always suggest sipping this one slowly…very slowly!

Reason 4 – Great Choice of Venues

You are coming to Kavos to really go wild, let your hair down and quite frankly get as drunk as possible, as often as possible. Want to forget your worries and all of the hassles at home, then you’ll be pleased to know that Kavos has some awesome venues offering all kinds of opportunities for you to do just that. Booze cruises that include parties, DJs, great food, endless alcohol and lots of mingling and meeting are par for the course. At only £30 for the whole day, you can’t go wrong.

Beach parties and other themed shenanigans take place throughout the season too. My personal favourite is the annual Super Paint Party (entrance £25) where you do more than just lose yourself amongst the craziness that is the neon glow paint experience. The atmosphere and adrenalin fuelled stage show are simply mind blowing!

And don’t forget to subscribe to the Kavos Nightlife Podcast so that you can take all of your holiday memories home with you (those that you can remember anyway!)

How to Get There

Great news if you are watching your spending and saving up to splash out when you get to Kavos is that there are plenty of budget airline choices flying to Corfu from the UK. Thomas Cook Airlines and easyJet fly direct from London Gatwick, while Ryanair offer some excellent deals from London Stansted. British Airways have great fares too depending on when you want to travel, and they offer a bigger luggage allowance!

Getting from Corfu airport to Kavos could not be simpler if you book with Shuttle Direct. The team of drivers offer a great service on a private or shared basis that you can book in advance. On arrival, you are bound to want to get to your hotel as soon as you can, so let Shuttle Direct take care of your onward journey. No hassle and no fuss, you can be dancing the night (or indeed, the day) away in no time. The 1 hour 20 minute transfer costs just over £81 one way, but if you have teamed up with some other partygoers on the plane, you can share the cost!

Where To Stay:

Quayside Village Hotel – In a great location right on Kavos Beach, Quayside Village Hotel is close to all of the action. It also offers lots of water sports facilities, which can be great for a change of scene. Relax on the sun terrace while you see off your hangover or chill out in your air-conditioned room for the afternoon, while you recharge for your next night out.

Island Bali – At Island Bali, you can watch the sunrise on the beach after your night of partying and then take a few steps to the hotel for some shuteye. Right on the beach, this hotel has a good-sized pool and a lovely terrace. The on-site bar is a great feature, and free Wi-Fi makes posting your pics to Instagram and Twitter all the more easy.

Island Beach Island Beach is another beachside hotel that also has a quirky mini-golf course, perfect for whiling away those lethargic afternoons. The terrace is huge and the free sunbeds under the shade of the palm trees offer the ideal spot for recharging the batteries. Rooms are spacious and airy with large windows and great views, and the bar serves fabulous snacks and drinks all day. Breakfast here is a buffet style, so you can really indulge and fuel up for the next 24 hours of partying!
