This Saturday, 26th of September, the Ironman competition will take place in Mallorca. This race consists in a swim route of 3,8 kilometers, a bike route of 180 kilometers and a running route of 42,2 kilometers.
The Ironman is ones of best known and most famous sporting events among athletes. The World Championship is held in Hawaii every year since 1978 but the trials take place in Australia, New Zeeland, Brazil, Spain, Canada, United States, South Africa, France, among others. These trials are regulated by World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), so it’s a professional sport.
In Spain, this event will take place in Alcúdia, in the port of Alcúdia, where it will start and finish. The bike route will visit a various towns such as Manacor, Santa Margalida, and Pollença. Both professionals and beginners can participate in this sporting event and they will be chasing one of the 50 qualifying places for the Ironman World Championship 2016 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Alcúdia visitors and triathlon fans can also enjoy Ironman SportExpo, a sports area expo open from 23th to 26th of September in Alcúdia port from 09.00 until 18.00 and 27th of September from 10.00 until 15.00.
Swim route
The swim route consists two loops around a 3,8 kilometers circuit located in the Alcúdia. You can see the circuit in this map:

Bike route
In the bike route the athletes will go through Mallorca towns like Manacor, Santa Margalida, and Pollença. The circuit is over 180 kilometers in total and the competitors will find steep climbs and fast descents that will test them.

Running route
The circuit walk goes along the coast so the athletes can enjoy the Mediterranean breeze. The circuit is 42,2 kilometers divided into 4 and a half loops:

Schedule Ironman Mallorca 2015
The 23th September from 09.00 to 13.00 there will be a guided tour of the bike route for the participants and they can register from 10.00 until 18.00 on the Alcúdia beach.
The 24th of September wetsuits be tested and the athletes will continue to register. On 25th September the IronKinds, the race for children will take place
The race will start the 26th September at 07:30 with the professional male athletes, 07:32 for the professional female athletes, and the others runners start at 07:37
At 15:30 the winner will cross the finish line but the circuit will remain open until 24.00
On 27th September the Awards banquet will take place on the beach and Awards ceremony and slot allocation/rolldown for the 2016 Ironman World Championship at the beach.
