Where to Shop in Turgutreis, Bodrum

Turgutreis is the largest bay on the Bodrum peninsula and an ever increasingly popular resort for sun loving visitors. With fabulous beaches, an elegant marina and perfect Mediterranean weather, Turgutreis is on a stunning part of the coast. No matter where you stay on this lovely shoreline, the scenery is stunning and the sunsets always a delight. Bright red geraniums gather around the trunks of the ancient olive trees and stretching into the distance is the endless water that dances below the cloudless sky.

Bodrum is a collection of tiny cove villages and each of them holds something unique for the visitor. Turgutreis is the largest and in just 10 years it has grown from a remote little village on a dirt road into a touristic hub, which now holds its own against the main town of Bodrum itself. The population has grown and today you can find everything you need here from open-air markets to hotels, a marina and numerous bars and restaurants.

But apart from the beaches, this little resort is famous for its shopping. Here’s our guide to all of the shopping options in Turgutreis.

Saturday Street Market

This is the largest of all of the weekly markets and in recent years it has grown so much that half of it has moved across the street in order to accommodate the stalls. The colourful food stalls are all located in the big car park which is close to the tourist shops and the section of the market selling textiles, clothes, bags and souvenirs is set off down one of the side streets. This place attracts a great crowd and offers a fantastic local market experience. Remember though to get your haggle head on when visiting this market!

Turgutreis Marina

Apart from the incredible array of ocean-going vessels here there are lots of designer shops too. This is the place to go if you want to hang out with the well-heeled and enjoy outdoor concerts, as well as a top class shopping experience.

Artist Street and Handicraft Corner

As well as the designer establishments at the marina, there are also art and craft market stalls. These are most busy at night, when you can join the other visitors wandering in and out of and exploring these unique little shops.

Supermarkets

There are many good supermarkets in town and a large Migros shop at the end of the road that leads to the market. You won’t be stuck for the essentials in this resort.

Souvenir Heaven

Between the beach and the mosque there is a whole host of tourist shops and this is where you have to go if you are looking for trinkets and souvenirs to take home. There is no haggling here but the prices are always good.
