What’s On this Winter and Spring in Flaine

Whenever you choose to travel to the mountain town of Flaine in France, you can be sure of fun for all the family.

If you are planning to travel to Flaine over the next few months, don’t miss out on one moment of family fun. The resort has plenty of show, activities and events designed to entertain both little ones and grown-ups. What with days filled with ski lessons, firework displays and meeting Santa Claus, you’ll all sleep soundly through the night.

Winter

From Christmas festivities right through to beating the winter blues in February, Flaine is prepared for fun.

  • December 2018

Flaine is a brilliant place to celebrate Christmas. Perhaps you just can’t be bothered with all the fuss and bother at home but still want your children to have a magical experience. Well, Flaine’s delightful, traditional Christmas celebrations are sure to warm the heart of even the grumpiest child.

On Christmas Eve Father Christmas arrives in the town accompanied by an awesome pyrotechnic show and light parade. On Christmas Day, you can snap a picture with the big man in red and spend some quality family time in the snow.

A few days later, on 27 December, it is officially children’s day. This is a fun-filled day packed full of child-focused activities, such as a magic show and a snowman building competition.

Stay up late on New Year’s Eve to see the impressive torch-lit decent of the ski instructors followed by a beautiful firework display.

  • January 2019

The 2nd January will be one huge party in Flaine this year as the resort celebrates fifty years since its very first season in 1968/9. Festivities will include yet more fireworks, a ‘fire show’, and a sound and light show all centred on the last fifty years. It will certainly be a party to remember.

  • February 2019

February sees Flainestival roll into town with a series of shows and events perfect for all the family. Each week in February there will be a range of parades, traditional torch-lit descents by ski professionals and more to delight and entertain. Here are some highlights:

  • February 11th – Express Fanfare street entertainment parade
  • February 12th – Special children’s show Les Tribulations d’Aristides
  • February 26th – Brilliant show called Prove You Exist
  • February 28th – Elegant Street Machine street entertainment parade

Spring

  • March 2019

At the beginning of March, you can catch the end of Flainestival with the children’s show Antho and Numa running on 5 March. However, March really is a month of music in Flaine.

From 9 to 15 March an exciting schedule of classical music is on offer. This is a great opportunity to introduce your children to classical music in an enthralling live setting.

If you are visiting the resort towards the end of the month, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for roaming magicians as they whip up wonder and awe with their incredible tricks across Flaine. This week of surprises begins on 23 March.

  • April 2019

The music keeps on playing into April with a Pop Rock week of live music beginning on 20 March and ending on 5 April. Live musicians and bands will hit the terrace playing a mixture of blues, rock and pop as the skiing comes to an end.

April is a great time to travel to Flaine with family as the week of 6 April is officially Happy Kids week. This week is devoted to children’s entertainment across the resort. You’ll find games, shows, workshops, walks and more.
