Unexpected Surrealist Sculptures in Marbella

Although many visitors don’t go to Marbella expecting breath-taking architecture, the city does offer small, unexpected surprises sometimes. Its old city is indubitably pretty, with whitewashed two-storey houses and traditional churches, and if you go for a stroll along Marbella’s popular Avenida del Mar, you will see more than the sea and the bars and cafes that flank it.

Tucked away in between palm trees and shaded areas, you can find a collection of incredible, surrealist, bronze sculptures by two masters of the arts: Salvador Dalí and Eduardo Soriano. They depict various Greek and Roman mythical characters, as well as a naked woman climbing on a snail, Don Quijote, and a cosmic elephant. It is the perfect cultural interlude before going for an afternoon swim or sitting down on the shore with a scoop of refreshing ice cream.

Shuttle Direct offers various transport options between Marbella and the nearby airports.
