Top 5 Things We Love About Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje, a resort situated on Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, is well-known for its family-friendly beaches, laid back atmosphere, and great range of things to see and do. It doesn’t matter if you’re here for two days or two weeks, this vibrant beach resort will keep you occupied in the most delightful of ways – even if that just means sleeping on a sunlounger under a beach umbrella!

While it’s hard to narrow down the best things to do (there are lots!), we’ve come up with the top five things we love most about the very loveable Costa Adeje.

Top Five Things We Love About Costa Adeje

Number One: You Have a Choice of Beaches

Let’s face it, most people who come here come for the beaches – and nobody leaves disappointed. The beauty of the three beaches is that they all offer something a little different – so try one, or try them all!

Playa del Duque is set in a small protected bay with a lovely promenade behind. It’s very clean and safe, with stunning clear waters and golden, fine-grain sand. There are plenty of umbrellas and sun loungers for hire, although it can get quite busy.

Playa del Pinta is the smallest of the three, so if you’re looking for a bit of space, head north of the harbour. It’s still popular, but has a slightly less lively ambience, and there are plenty of inflatables and trampolines in the shallows for use.

The biggest beach is the Blue Flag Playa Fanabé, which is nearly a kilometre in length. The water is fairly shallow, which is great for the children, and it has great facilities.

Number Two: You Can Visit Siam Waterpark

Young or old, who doesn’t love a water park? Staying in Costa Adeje gives you access to Siam Water Park, which is renowned around the world. This Thai-themed park delivers thrills and spills aplenty, with the world’s biggest man-made waves (3m), and the world’s highest and longest lazy river. You really will feel like your holiday has taken the road to Thailand, with everything from Thai-themed food to a traditional floating market. Once you’ve eaten and shopped it’s back to those water thrills, with the terrifying Tower of Power slide, which takes you on a near-vertical drop through a shark tank.

Number Three: You Can Stargaze on Mt Teide

As the highest point in Spain, the imposing Mt Teide is perfect for something else aside from its wonderful hikes: stargazing. Renowned as one of the top spots in the world for exploring the night skies, you can join one of several operators running night excursions in Teide National Park. Accompanied by an expert astronomer, you can take the cable car to the Pico Viejo crater, and get a fascinating insight into the heavens, or visit the biggest solar observatory on the planet, Tenerife Observatory.

Number Four: You Can Swim With Sea Turtles!

This has to be one of the most delightful things to do if you want some time away from the crowds to get back to nature. Head to the lovely little cove at Playa del Puertito, where you’ll rarely see tourists, and swim out into the crystal clear waters. Before long you’ll encounter the friendly sea turtles, who won’t be at all bothered by you, and you can swim amongst them without a care. There’s also a host of other marine life, including crabs, rays and trumpet fish. This is a real ‘locals’ beach’, so it’s also a great place to have a chat and get to know some of the fishermen, whose boats are moored in the cove.

Number Five: You Can Relax on a Sailing Tour

Sailing around the coastline of Costa Adeje on a catamaran is a wonderful way to get a very different view of Tenerife. Various operators offer a range of sailing tours that take in whale and dolphin watching, diving or snorkelling, and even have wine and tapas included! You can choose from larger vessels or smaller, more intimate ones that cater to around ten people – and you can even buddy up a sailing tour with a visit to a water park or other excursions. A sunset sailing tour around the coast of Tenerife is an experience that’s guaranteed never to be forgotten…
