As one of the most popular resorts in southern Europe, Magaluf is almost synonymous with summer fun – especially for Brits, who along with other northern Europeans like Germans and Scandinavians make up the vast majority of guests. High demand brings international DJs and entertainers to Majorca every year, and ensures that there’s more than enough in the way of bars, restaurants and activities to keep you occupied all day long. In this post, we’ll run down some of the best beaches in the area.
Playa de Magaluf
The most popular beach in the area, Playa de Magaluf packs a punch all year round, despite some pretty heavy crowds in the high summer.
Watersports and Excursions
As with most of the destinations on this list, the beach is well maintained and pretty, with around 900 metres of fine, clean sand and deckchairs and parasols to rent from May to October. Still, the best reason to come here is by far the wide variety of activities on offer. Beach rentals include:

- Pedal boats
- Parasailing
Even better, excursions available for pre-booking include glass-bottomed boat tours and trips to the nature reserves on the nearby island of Sa Porrassa.
Access and Facilities
The recently renovated promenade features a mix of the resort’s popular British staples (think cheap drinks and hearty food) and more upmarket options. The beach is easily accessible by foot and bus, and close to the centre.
Playa de Palmanova
Palmanova features fewer options and is a little quieter, but still has stuff to sink your teeth into. Trees at the back provide decent shade, and there’s a little more parking available.
Entertainment
A play area keeps kids out of your hair, and the double-sided promenade again has a lot to see and do. Although music is banned on the beach, you’ll still hear more than enough from nearby pool entertainers and solo acts playing at restaurants.
Top Tip: If you fancy yourself a singer – or even if you just enjoy shouting along to some classics with your mates – try your hand at karaoke, offered at many of the nearby pubs.
Playa son Matias
Family friendly, clean and never too full, even in peak season, Matias offers a lot of what you’d expect in slightly quieter surroundings. There’s bus and car access (but little parking), lifeguards and sunbed and parasol rental over summer, a diving school and more.
Food and Drink
The biggest thing that sets Matias aside is its slightly more diverse dining options: the long promenade offers solid local and Spanish-influenced cuisine alongside the more expected fare.
Playa es Carregador
This is probably the most unique-looking beach on this list, with its rocky coastline and lush greenery helping it stand out. It also has a little more luxury than its competitors, with free WiFi available on the sand and great drinks at the exclusive Campino bar.
Action and Adventure
Even better, Carregador offers a variety of fun, physical activities, including Aqua Arena – an all-ages water assault course. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of friendly rivalry on a mates’ holiday, is there?
Cala Cap Falco
Another well-kept beach with clear, shallow water and plenty of shade, Falco stands out for its isolation. A word like ‘unspoilt’ might be too much for anything on an island as popular as Majorca, but Falco comes close, located a few kilometres south of the resort on a small strait and backed with a pine forest.
Chiringuito Bar
Still, it’s not all natural beauty and relaxation. Falco is popular among German tourists, and Chiringuito offers a variety of snacks and seafood alongside excellent cocktails.

How to Get There
Many airlines offer great flights from UK airports to Palma de Mallorca airport, and prices are very reasonable so long as you avoid the summer school holidays, August in particular.
