The Why, When and Where to Go in Tenerife

People arrive into Tenerife in their droves in the summer primarily for the fabulous weather, the family-friendly resorts, the short flight time from the UK and the guaranteed sunshine, even in winter. Here is our snapshot guide of why, when and where in Tenerife.

Best Time to Go

Tenerife does have a great climate all year round so really there is no time of year when you will be scuppered by the weather. Having said that, you are more likely to see a little rain either side of December and January if you are visiting the north. Flights from the UK are generally much cheaper in the winter and very available but the hotel prices once on the island can be much higher than in summer. September is our favourite month. The days are warm and the nights are too, and the prices have not reached their seasonal highs yet.

The Lowdown on Where to Go

If you are visiting this beautiful island make sure you include a trip on the cable car that takes you to the very top of Mount Teide, which is the highest mountain in Spain. Views are spectacular from the top and it is great for orientating yourself.

Garachico is another of our suggestions for an excursion. Here you can relax with a cup of coffee in what we consider to be one of the most charming plazas on the island. You can also swim in rock pools here that are formed from the lava produced when the island’s volcano has erupted in the past.

For a delightful local experience, La Laguna is a lovely place to visit. This, the old capital, is now a UNESCO site and is bursting with architectural gems that date back over four centuries. This pretty place also has a vibrant atmosphere, some great tapas bars and good shopping too.

For those that enjoy hiking, a trip to the ancient laurel forests of the Anaga Mountains is a must. There is some stunning scenery here.

Why Tenerife

There are some wonderful beaches on this island and the fact that they can be enjoyed all year round is a great pull for holidaymakers to the island. Resorts are geared towards families and there are some excellent accommodation choices. Costa Adeje has become the new face of the island and offers more upmarket hotel options alongside its chic boutiques and well-organised beaches. Of course the original resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas are still very popular and have revamped their image to continue attracting families and the more mature visitor.

How to Get to Tenerife

We offer Tenerife transfers from both airports to all of the different resorts on the island so if you want to complete your journey to your holiday destination with minimum fuss, book with us.

For reliable and flexible Tenerife transfers, we are the first choice. Our experienced team of drivers will whisk you from the airport arrivals to your hotel quickly and efficiently.
