The Italian alpine town of Cortina d’Ampezzo is one of the most famous ski resorts in the entire world. A top location for jet-setters and European aristocrats, this mountain town has also been the film set for the Pink Panther and one of the James Bond series.
But what I like best about Cortina d’Ampezzo is the music. Music is very important to the local population, with young musicians often found performing in the streets. Every year Cortina d’Ampezzo hosts the Dino Ciani Festival and Academy, which draws young pianists from all over the world. In summer especially, this alpine oasis is bursting with music. It’s the music, not the skiing, that makes Cortina d’Ampezzo really something special.
