Cala Ratjada with Teens: Activity and Adrenaline

Teenagers may not be my area of expertise just yet, as my daughter is still a toddler, but I do know that kids at that awkward age can be hard to win over when it comes to holiday plans. If you really want to get them on side though, head to Cala Ratjada in the north east of Mallorca, and you can’t go wrong. There is so much on offer here that will keep your kids busy, especially if they are anything like the teenagers I know and they thrive on activity and adrenaline. Here is my guide to some

Cala d’Or

Cala d’Or for Family Holidays with Teenagers

Teenagers and family holidays can be a difficult combination. They want to be independent and left to their own devices; whereas you know that they are not quite old enough for that just yet. My daughter is a long way off being a teenager but I do look forward and appreciate that planning family holidays that your teens will love must be tough. From my experience, however, Mallorca’s Cala d’Or offers families a great combination of things to do for adults and teens alike. Here is my guide to keeping the teenagers happy and off their iPods when in Cala

Palma de Mallorca

Palma: Mallorca’s Cosmopolitan Capital

Situated within the cosy embrace of the Badia de Palma, Mallorca’s capital is practically made for cruising. As the economic and cultural hub of this Balearic Island, Palma is more than just beaches (though those are world-class too!). The city’s roots stretch all the way back to Roman times, though by no means is this city behind the times. Here you’ll find ancient relics and modern art in equal measure, all suffused with that irresistible Mediterranean aura. With its large and accommodating port, Palma is a popular stopover point for cruise ships. Here you’ll have a chance to spend a

Cala Ratjada

Water Fun for Teens in Cala Ratjada

Majorca has long been a favourite family holiday destination with the Brits – and it’s not for nothing. It’s the perfect place to kick back on the beach, soak up the sun and let your kids do what kids do best – run rampant. I mean, enjoy themselves. Joking aside, the best thing about Majorca really is the number of safe, picture-perfect beaches from which to choose. Of course, you’ve heard it all before – “white sand, clear skies, crystal-clear turquoise ocean” – but it really is true, and it’s an outstanding place for a family break. Cala Ratjada, in

From one mum to many more, I can highly recommend Cala d’Or as a holiday destination for families with small children. Magaluf

A Mates-Only Getaway to Magaluf

Ahh Magaluf. This Spanish pocket rocket has achieved legendary status and it’s no secret as to why. Sun – tick, plenty of it; fun – tick, tick, in endless supply; and activities to keep you busy enough to deserve a few (or more) well-earned beers in the evening – tick, tick and triple tick! Magaluf is a favourite place for the lads to enjoy a bit of ‘Brits Abroad’ action and let their hair down (the nightlife strip Punta Balena can get pretty wild, in the best possible way!), but it’d be a pretty one-dimensional boys’ break if you didn’t

For some teens, there’s no worse punishment imaginable than being forced to spend a whole week (or worse, two!) with their family at some boring holiday resort. Lufthansa pilots’ strike causes travel chaos

Lufthansa pilots have begun their eighth strike this year, forcing the cancellation of 1,511 flights over Monday and Tuesday. The strike was initially aimed at mostly European flights, but will be expanded to international routes on Tuesday, hitting 200,000 passengers. The airline said it hoped to operate a third of its flights over the two days. Lufthansa said it has cancelled over 1,500 short-haul flights but is confident that it will still be able to operate 700, or one-third of all flights, with management pilots and ‘volunteers’. The cancellations include dozens of flights between London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh and
