Sölden is a high-altitude ski paradise with a lot on offer for every ability. With over 140km of wide, open pistes, the resort sits 1377m above sea level, snow-sure throughout the ski period.  Predominantly the destination of German and Dutch skiers, this resort rests on two adjoining glaciers, which skiers head up eagerly at the start of each day, ready for some of the longest and most rewarding descents in the region. Après-Ski

Along with its excellent snow-sure skiing, Sölden is renowned throughout northern Europe for its young, vibrant après-ski scene. With so many great bars to choose from, here are some of the silliest and best for you and your friends.

Umbrella Bar Sonne

Shaped like – you guessed it – a huge umbrella, this bar serves drinks at its centre, which is surrounded by revellers. Lively throughout the night, Umbrella Bar is always busy with great DJs and drink deals.

Halli Valli

Located just next to the Gaislachkogel lift station, this bar is the perfect way to finish off a hard day of skiing. Halli Valli will warm up those cold hands and feet and is a great place for pre-drinks if you’ve got a big night planned.

Philipp

Philipp is a legendary bar in Sölden. One the longest-running venues in the resort, this boogie parlour is best reached by a funicular from the centre of town. Once there, drinkers are known to stay all night, drinking, flirting and dancing.

Party Stadl

For a more sophisticated drinking experience, Party Stadl offers an Oktoberfest vibe with Bratwurst and beer. Pop on your Lederhosen, order a Stein of beer and try not to spill it all over your friends.

Zum Kuckuck

The first stop on an after-ski bar crawl, Zum Kuckuck is right next to the Giggijoch lift station. The bar has a great selection of beers, which can be drunk on its large terrace overlooking the slopes.

Nightclubs

Sölden’s après-ski scene is great, but for the party animals among us, the nightclub is where the party truly gets started. This Austrian resort has a number of top-notch nightclubs that stay open until the early hours of the morning, making them perfect for partygoers who need a proper boogie before bed.

Fire & Ice

The bar at Fire & Ice is in the middle of the dancefloor, leaving the rest of the space free to drink and dance. The music starts in the early evening and doesn’t stop until the middle of the morning, so you can arrive here at the beginning of your après ski shenanigans or right at the end.

Mogul

Slap bang on the party mile, this legendary venue is open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. The DJs here play a wide variety of music, ranging from House to R&B, so there is something for everyone in the group to get down to.

Katapult

Katapult is the largest club in Sölden. An all-in-one club, bar and lounge, don’t be surprised if you bump into skiers whom you’ve met on holiday, shaking it on the dancefloor. Katapult is also where you are most likely to find famous DJs spinning tracks, so keep your eyes peeled!

How to Get There

The nearest airport to Sölden is Innsbruck, and is the best option for travellers who want to hit the slopes and dancefloors as soon as possible. The journey by car from the airport to the resort takes around an hour and a half on tricky mountain roads. Where to Stay

Top Apart Gaislachkogl – Located right in the centre of Sölden, the 4-star Top Apart Gaislachkogl is right in the middle of the action. Within walking distance are shops and cafés, as well as access to the skiing area. The apartments, recently renovated in a modern alpine-style, have a small kitchen area so that you can prepare a quick breakfast or maybe a midnight snack after you come in from the club. Just outside is the cross-country ski run, and the ski and bus stops that give you access all over the surrounding area.
