Port d’Alcudia: Fun and Sun for All the Family!

Mallorca is a well-known travel destination for those looking to escape to the sun for some rest and relaxation. Although it’s popular with both partygoers and families, I think it offers the perfect package for those travelling with kids: beaches, fun parks, nature reserves, and restaurants that serve all kinds of food. There is something for everyone. However, my favourite family holiday haunt in Mallorca has to be Port d’Alcudia, located in the northeast of the island.

A Lot to Love About Port d’Alcudia

This bustling seaside town boasts one of the best beaches in the area, which is ideal for trying out watersports such as SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) or laid-back paddle boats. As the name suggests, Port d’Alcudia is also the arrival and departure point for ferries from Barcelona and Menorca. So if you fancied a little day trip, the option’s there!

History

This historic town has always been bustling with people. Serving originally as the gateway for the north and other islands, it was an important place of trade for many of the inland towns. However, it’s over the last 40 years that the town has boomed to become a thriving holiday destination.

The Beach

The only place to start is the top attraction: Alcudia Beach. This 10km-long stretch of soft, white sand is the dream for families looking for a safe and fun setting for a beach day. And at Port d’Alcudia, every day can be a beach day – much to the kids’ delight! The water is shallow and calm, and you’ll find all the necessary amenities along the seashore.

Fun Park

Hidropark is the only waterpark in the north of the island, but it’s also one of the best in Mallorca. Whether members of your family enjoy the thrill of a speedy water slide, or are a little younger and prefer to paddle in the water playground, Hidropark is suitable for all ages. It makes for a great day out and a refreshing change from the beach.

Boat Trips

If you’re looking to push the boat out (pun intended!) then I would highly recommend organising a boat trip to explore the beautiful coastline. Not only will you get to experience Mallorca from a new perspective, but the whole family will have the chance to try out fun activities such as snorkelling, jumping from the deck into the sparkling sea, and maybe even enjoying a private floating restaurant.

The Nature Reserve

Another fun day out, but away from the sea and sun, is a visit to S’Albufera wetland, which is the largest of its kind in the Balearic Islands. It’s a huge nature reserve formed out of an ancient lagoon and is home to 230 different bird species. Grabbing a pair of binoculars and seeing who can spot the greatest variety of birds in a day is not only fun but educational too!

Family-friendly Restaurants

Last but by no means least is the absolutely fabulous food. Often, finding the right place to eat with a family of picky eaters can be tricky on holiday, but luckily the streets of Port d’Alcudia are lined with a host of restaurants that cater to all kinds of tastes. Not only will you find the traditional home cooking of the Mediterranean, but there are even options such as sushi, Sunday roasts, Italian and pizza. No one goes hungry in this town – guaranteed!

How to Get There

Mallorca can get busy throughout the summer months but as it’s just a short flight from the UK, ticket prices remain reasonable. You can get a good deal in June and July, at around £44 return, with the most expensive month being August, at £102. However, being busy means that there are plenty of flights to pick from. Easyjet, Wizz, RyanAir and Tui all fly directly to Mallorca in a quick and easy flight.

To make your trip even smoother, I would recommend booking a transfer from Palma de Mallorca airport to Port d’Alcudia. This takes away the hassle of figuring out your own Palma de Mallorca airport transfer with kids in tow. A Port d’Alcudia transfer shouldn’t take too long and allows you to sit back and relax right from the start of your trip.

Shuttle Bus:

When it comes to finding the best airport transfer, Shuttle Direct has decades of experience, so you know that you’ll be in safe hands. A shared shuttle bus is a cost-effective option, which is ideal if you’re fine with a Port d’Alcudia transfer without the frills but with all the comfort and safety features you’d expect.

Private Transfer:

For families that need complete privacy, I would recommend the private transfer. Your driver will meet you in the terminal and deliver you right to the door of your accommodation.

Minibus Transfer:

Finally, there is the minibus option, which is reliable, spacious, and money saving too! What’s not to love? This kind of airport transfer means no need to queue and everyone in your party gets to travel in the same vehicle – no matter how large the group!

Choosing the Right Transfer

Shuttle Direct are experts when it comes to a reliable airport transfer. Palma de Mallorca to Port d’Alcudia is an easy drive made much easier with a pre-booked service. However, there are a couple of key things to consider when choosing your transport.

Cost: This will vary from family to family, based on the number of people and the amount of luggage you’re bringing. But having a set budget in mind is a quick way to narrow down your transfer options to one of the more cost-effective services.

Convenience: Equally important is convenience. This means thinking about your specific needs during your trip such as how much personal space you require and the size of vehicle needed. If this is a priority for you, one of our private services will suit perfectly.
