Ooh La La! The Top Places in Paris

Paris has so much to offer for its visitors, no matter what kind of holidaymaker they happen to be. Delicious food, iconic architecture and other must-see attractions can be found throughout the French capital. The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe are just some of the highlights of this wonderful city!

The capital’s major attractions can be found in several areas and districts spread out across the city, with some of them centrally located and others a little more off the beaten track. Check out some of the top spots I found in this handy infographic.

Montmartre

This district has been home to a number of exciting, diverse and creative artists, writers and actors. You’ll see why when you arrive – this area offers you the chance to go back in time and experience what Paris was like for Picasso and Van Gogh during the early 1900s. Here are just some of the many highlights:

  • Charming and interesting museums
  • Walking along the distinctive cobbled streets
  • The hidden vineyard

Le Marais

This district is right in the centre of the capital and is somewhere you must visit if you’re heading to Paris. Here, you’ll find the charming red-bricked square known as Place des Vosges alongside intriguing small museums including the Musée Carnavalet.

Top Tip: If you fancy a free activity, why not head to the enormous old mansion which has been renovated and transformed into a library? This is a great spot for a bit of holiday reading and also provides great photo opportunities.

Canal Saint-Martin

This is a great place to visit if you’re looking for real French authenticity. Take a walk along the edge of the water and enjoy a quiet picnic right beside the beautiful surroundings.

Top Tip: Why not have a drink in one of the trendy, up-and-coming bars which sit along the edge of the canal?

You won’t be short of fun and interesting things to see and do in Paris, whether you’re improving your historical knowledge or sampling some of the area’s finest cuisine. Will it be Le Marais, Montmartre or Canal Saint-Martin that you head to first?
