Not only is Turkey a beautiful country with a stunning coastline, but it is also packed with attractions for both adults and children.
Sultan’s Aqua City
The inviting blue pools, beautiful scenery and comfortable sun loungers of this water park will certainly have your children entertained throughout most of your holiday… oh, and did I mention the giant colourful slides, water fountains and enormous children’s area?
The smaller children’s pool is just perfect for your little ones. Shallow, safe and loads of fun! For the older kids (and maybe the adults too), slides with twists, bumps and turns will splash you into the water at fantastic speeds. The four-lane slide allows some healthy competition as kids can race each other to the bottom on the slippery mats. Don’t worry, the whole park is supervised by lifeguards.
A small snack bar lies just metres from the pools, serving ice creams, cold drinks and a full food menu with plenty of options. It’s easy to spend a whole day at Aqua City.
12 Island Boat Trip
For an exciting trip out, this boat excursion is perfect. As the name suggests, the tour takes you around 12 beautiful islands, some of which you can walk along. Many are secluded and hidden behind the rocks, making excellent photo opportunities. Beaches include:
- Dockyard Island
- Red Island
- Flat Island
- Cleopatra’s Bath
- Rabbit Island
Top Tip: Children will love Rabbit Island, as it actually has rabbits! They are very tame, so just make sure your children don’t end up taking one home.
The boat trip also includes lunch on board, and you may be able to spot dolphins and sea turtles as you eat. It’s a beautiful itinerary that both adults and kids always enjoy.
Calis Beach
This incredible stretch of sandy beach makes for a great day out with the family. It is a blue flag beach, impeccably clean, and can be found just off the promenade where bars, restaurants and cafes are available.
Young children can remain comfortable in the heat for the majority of the day as there is often a cool, calming breeze from the sea. However, umbrellas are available to purchase if you don’t bring your own. Calis beach also offers water sports like banana boats and kite surfing for the more adventurous types.

Where to Stay
There are plenty of places to stay in Turkey, but amenities tend to vary, and sometimes it’s difficult to find what you’re looking for. Here are some of the best places for a family stay.
Golden Moon Hotel – Located just 150 yards from Calis beach and the nearby restaurants, this hotel is perfect if you’re looking to keep quite local throughout your holiday. There is a large outdoor pool, as well as a smaller one for young children to enjoy.
Rooms have free WiFi, air conditioning, and there’s free parking close by. The hotel serves traditional Turkish cuisine at meal times, and there is also a bar by the pool for daytime snacks. There are also occasional ‘Turkish nights’, featuring live music and dancing – always a great way to spend the evening.
Lighthouse Nadia Aparts – Another perfect option for a family stay. The apartments come with comfortable bedrooms (which vary in size depending on your choice), as well as kitchenettes, bathrooms and living areas with TVs.
It’s a short walk to the main beach in Fethiye, but the resort has its own private beach and outdoor pool, so you won’t miss out if you don’t fancy walking in the heat.
How to Get There
The best way to get to this area of Turkey is by flying into Dalaman Airport. Flights usually take just under 4 hours, but are often direct. There are 7 different airlines that fly to this destination from London, so you will have plenty to choose from depending on your budget.
From there, getting to your chosen accommodation in Calis is simple. I used Shuttle Direct’s services when booking my airport transfer, and would definitely recommend them. The drive took around 50 minutes, and I was thankful to be able to relax, knowing I would reach my destination with no hassle.
