Referred to as the “Venetian Riviera” by holidaymakers and tour operators, Lido di Jesolo is one of the few destinations in Italy that offers sun, sea and sand as a package. Despite its purpose built nature, the resort is bursting with activity and is full of cafes and restaurants, some laid back and others more upmarket. Being so close to Venice makes this place even more attractive.

Teenagers in particular will love a week’s holiday here. There is so much to do, either for the kids on their own or with you as a family. As a parent myself I can imagine choosing this destination for our holidays when my daughter is older.

Aqualandia Water Park
Bringing the Caribbean to Italy, Aqualandia is a metropolis of fun. With attractions to suit all ages, you can enjoy the highest water-slide in the world, Europe’s highest bungee jumping tower, great entertainment shows and much more. This place is not just a traditional waterpark; it is a themed paradise island just waiting to be explored.
Tickets are bought in euros but work out to be around £25 for adults and £21 for children under 1m 40cm. The park has lockers and showers as well as other amenities.

Waikiki Park
This campsite is ideal for family holidays, if you are looking for accommodation other than a hotel or apartment. With oodles of space in the luscious green grounds, a private beach on the doorstep and a pool complex too, you have all you need on site. Mums and dads can make use of the fitness centre while the teenagers hang out on the waterslides, get involved in an Italian lesson, or challenge each other to some table tennis. A pizzeria and supermarket at the campsite offer great self-catering options but Lido di Jesolo is only 7km away if you want to try out some local restaurants.

Aquarium
A rainy day option, the Aquarium is a small but well managed place with several exhibits of smaller fish species, sharks and even a turtle! There are presentations in Italian and English, and for an approximate cost of £13 you can’t argue with the price.
Tropicarium Park
Another indoor option and a lovely place to visit if you and the kids want a break from the beach, this park has plenty to see. With 3 different areas housing insects, snakes, lizards, crocodiles and sharks, the park is also also home to a butterfly room, which you can actually go into. Hundreds of butterflies are flying around amongst the tropical plants and sometimes they even use visitors as a landing platform. When they do, make sure you have your camera at the ready, as this is a shot not to be missed!

Hotel Lorely – Another beachfront hotel, Hotel Lorely offers free use of sun loungers and umbrellas. Bright airy rooms come with a TV, and many of them have a balcony with outside furniture. The restaurant on the beach serves excellent food, giving older kids the chance to try lots of local specialties. Baby food can also be prepared here should you know anyone who’d like to visit with younger children.
