Heathrow flights cancelled due to strong winds

All the latest updates as strong gusts and heavy rain bring travel disruption for thousands of passengers, with Heathrow reducing the number of flights and chainsaw gangs clearing train tracks of fallen trees.

Gusts of up to 70mph forecast to batter British Isles as remnants of hurricane move in from Atlantic. Delays expected as Heathrow cuts flights by 20 largest carriers by 10 per cent, with other airports, ferries, rail and road also affected. Chainsaw gangs are clearing train tracks of fallen trees.
Met Office has issued a severe weather warning lasting until 6pm tonight.
