Get Your Adrenaline Fix in Gumbet

For travellers in search of an adrenaline-fuelled holiday, there’s nothing worse than an uneventful beach getaway. If you’re looking to escape the chilly temperatures of northern Europe, but you aren’t keen on lying in the sand with absolutely nothing to do, don’t despair: a retreat in Gumbet is sure to keep you warm and entertained. Situated in the southwest of Turkey, this coastal resort is not only sunny and scenic, but also boasts a large variety of thrilling activities that are perfect for burning the candle at both ends. Let me introduce you to two of my favourite ways of embracing your adventurous and fun-loving spirit in Gumbet.

Aquatic Adventures

Have you ever dreamt of riding massive waves like a pro? Or how about seeing the star fish, sea urchins and barracuda that live beneath the ocean’s glistening surface? Upon arriving in Gumbet, wave (get it?) goodbye to those “if onlys” – it’s time to turn your dreams into reality and take the water by storm! If trying – or perfecting – an adventurous water sport sounds like your idea of bliss, you’re in luck: the resort’s balmy beach is famous among enthusiastic windsurfers and scuba divers alike. Even if you and your mates are total novices, the area’s windsurfing and diving schools are sure to whip you into shape. Soon enough you’ll be showing off your new-found skills above and beneath the waves like seasoned experts.

While many visitors get their adrenaline fix from windsurfing and diving alone, it’s worth going the extra mile and taking advantage of everything that Gumbet has to offer. If your thirst for adventure has not yet been quenched, why not try your hand at banana boating, jet skiing or parasailing? There’s certainly no shortage of offers on the resort’s beaches; just keep your eyes peeled for the myriad water sports centres as you stroll along!

And, as if all of that weren’t enough to keep even the most active travellers busy from morning to evening, there’s even more aquatic fun to be had. Dedeman Waterpark, situated in the nearby town of Ortakent, contains an artificial wave pool and river, 23 winding waterslides and a wide selection of other activities that are certain to exhilarate you for hours on end. Needless to say, the park is every adrenaline junkie’s dream, so make sure you and your mates beat the crowds by arriving as early in the morning as possible.

Notorious Nightlife

Although your aquatic shenanigans are bound to tire you out, I advise saving some energy (or taking a nap): you definitely won’t regret it when darkness envelops the resort. While you’ll experience booming silence in an average beach town, Gumbet is a legendary exception. In fact, I’d argue that the holiday haven only really comes to life in the early hours of the morning, which is when its bars and nightclubs open their doors to eager party animals. Let’s talk about the best places to rave like there’s no tomorrow.

Chico’s Bar – It’s hard to imagine where Gumbet’s nightlife would be without Chico’s Bar, an all-time favourite among locals and tourists alike. Along with its heavenly cocktails and live entertainment, the venue is widely celebrated for its friendly and dedicated staff. Pop in once and enjoy a warm welcome… and, if you come back, you won’t only be remembered, but you’ll be treated like family.

Roy’s Place – This beachfront bar is popular at any hour of the day or night. If you’re looking to soak up some sun and bronze your bod during the day, simply plop down on one of the bar’s free sun beds and let the staff pamper you with delicious drinks. At night, things get a bit crazier: most notably, the bar hosts karaoke nights, which are perfect for embracing your inner superstar… or getting tipsy enough to convince yourself that you’re the world’s next Beyoncé.

Club Posh, Club Mood & Mystery Disco – After pre-gaming at Chico’s Bar and/or Roy’s Place, you’re ready for the main event, which is sure to exceed your wildest expectations. Gumbet has not one, but three clubs, all of which offer something a little different. While Club Posh, the resort’s biggest club, is a go-to for pulsating beats and chic dance floors, Club Mood boasts a breathtaking view of Bitez Bay, and Mystery Disco is the perfect place to continue hogging the karaoke machine. If you’re a true champ, why not make the most of your night and stop by all of these fantastic venues?
