Fuengirola is the place to come for family fun on the beach. With seven kilometres of sandy beach there is plenty here to keep the whole family happy for hours. All along the promenade on the seafront you will find places where you can hire water sports equipment and buy buckets, spades, masks and snorkels. Hotels and apartments line the beachfront and are prime accommodation options for the holidaymaker looking to enjoy some serious fun in the sun.
As you walk along the beach, you will stumble upon plenty of chiringuitos, the Spanish beach bars, where you can sit and enjoy excellent fresh fish for a reasonable price. You can find British, Chinese and Italian restaurants too if more international cuisine is what you are after. In the high season, you can hire sunbeds and parasols for around 8 euros (2 beds and 1 parasol) and of course, if you want to have a go at water skiing, hire a pedal boat or take a jet ski out, there are plenty of opportunities too.

El Ejido
Right at the far end of Fuengirola is the stunning Beatriz Palace Spa Hotel with its own private beach bar located on the beach of El Ejido. As you approach this beach, a favourite with locals, you get a great view of the suspension bridge spanning the river. Because the beach is the furthest from the main town it is usually less crowded than the others, and because of its famous castle and fortifications there has been restricted building in the area, meaning no high-rise blocks towering over you. There are some charming little beach bars and restaurants and of course you could always treat yourself to lunch at the Beatriz Palace Spa Hotel.
Los Boliches
One of the area’s most popular beaches, this one can get busy in summer. The beach facilities are well set up for crowds though and there are plenty of showers, beach beds, children’s areas and water sports. Awarded a blue flag status, this beach has clean water, soft sand and is very carefully maintained. Los Boliches has one of the widest areas of beach and there is good access to the water on strips of wooden decking that take you right to the edge. This is especially useful when the sand is boiling hot! A great beach for families, Los Boliches also has a Red Cross Lifesaving point. A word of advice though – get here early if you are driving, as the car park gets very busy.
The Port
Nestled between San Francisco and Los Boliches beach the Fuengirola Port is buzzing with local fishermen going about their daily business. It is also a haven for sailing enthusiasts who mill about with their boats at the modern part of the marina. There are plenty of fabulous restaurants here as well as upmarket bars and clubs, making it a fun place for a night out.

Casa Consistorial – If you want to splash out a bit when on holiday in Fuengirola, then Casa Consistorial with its rooftop terrace and pool is a lovely option.
