Explore the Natural Beauty of Jandia

Fuerteventura is a well-known tourist destination, thanks to its inviting sandy coastline, buzzing nightlife, delicious cuisine, and much more, besides! However, did you know that it’s also home to a protected area of outstanding natural beauty? Many visitors skip the natural sites and head straight to the beach, but if so, they are missing out.

If you’re a traveller who likes to venture beyond the beaten path, then be sure to include Jandia Peninsula on your Fuerteventura itinerary.

Get to Know Natural Jandia

The peninsula remains practically unspoilt, making it a favourite destination for tourists who like to include time in the great outdoors during their holiday. Not only does it boast some of the most beautiful beaches in the Canary Islands, but it’s home to the largest natural park with a huge variety of habitats. If you have a couple of days to spare, here’s how you could spend your time exploring Jandia.

Day One

If you only had one day to visit this incredible peninsula, then I would recommend dedicating it to Jandia Natural Park. Protected since 1987, this region is made up of all kinds of terrain, from mountains to sand dunes and lagoons. Thanks to this diversity it’s home to all kinds of endemic birds, animals, and plants, making it a must-visit for nature lovers.

If you enjoy getting active, be sure to hike to the island’s highest peak, Pico de la Zarza. It takes about two hours and at the summit you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Jandia’s beaches.

Day Two

Speaking of beaches, Jandia is home to the most beautiful coastline on Fuerteventura so I’d highly recommend spending a beach day here. I would particularly suggest taking the time to explore Cofete Beach, which is often considered one of the most beautiful in all of Spain. Its location is relatively remote, but this only adds to its charm and provides an air of privacy and tranquillity. You can expect miles of untouched sand surrounded by a backdrop of rugged mountains. It’s truly a unique experience and one that really shouldn’t be missed.

 How to Get There:

Fuerteventura is just a short flight from the UK and, thanks to its popularity, there are plenty of services and operators to choose from. Prices vary depending on the season, however, flights remain affordable throughout the year. Easyjet and Ryanair offer return flights from about £60 in the spring, with August the most expensive month.

I would highly recommend pre-booking a Fuerteventura airport transfer alongside your flights. A Fuerteventura transfer is well priced but will immediately reduce the hassle of travelling. The journey from Fuerteventura airport to Jandia town centre will take just over an hour, so it’s definitely worth booking an airport transfer to ensure that you get to your accommodation as soon as possible.

Types of Transfer

Shuttle Direct offers a great selection of airport transfer types to choose from, so you will find one suited to your specific needs, budget, and preferences.

Taxi:

After a flight, the last thing you want to do is wait around for a regular airport taxi. Fuerteventura to Jandia takes a little over an hour, depending on traffic, so to ensure that you get to your destination quickly and safely, you can pre-book a taxi to meet you at the airport.

Shuttle Bus:

Shuttle Direct offers a reliable airport transfer. Fuerteventura to Jandia is one of many routes they offer and their shuttle bus is a fantastic, cost-effective service. I like it especially as it takes away the hassle for navigating public transport.

Private Transfer:

If you have a bit of spare change in your budget, I’d suggest opting for a private transfer. Fuerteventura airport to Jandia in a pre-booked private car will ensure that your trip is smooth, as well as offering extra privacy and comfort.

Minibus Transfer:

Shuttle Direct’s minibuses provide a reliable airport transfer – Fuerteventura to Jandia is no exception! I suggest this option to couples or smaller groups, as the cost is split with other passengers. A minibus will reduce the stress of navigating public transport and ensure that you get to the right place in no time at all.

Choosing the Right Transfer

Choosing the most suitable airport transfer for you is important as it can affect the success of your whole trip. Important factors to consider will be how much you’re prepared to pay, preference of travel and how much luggage you’ll be bringing.

Cost: As would be expected, privacy and comfort always cost a little more. However, if these aspects are of great importance to you, then the more expensive private taxi service will suit you better than a cheaper shared service.

Convenience: While any of the options Shuttle Direct offers will get you where you need to go, some modes of transport are more convenient than others. A taxi is faster than a shuttle bus where you’re sharing with other people, so you’ll need to think about your needs and wants before booking.
