There are plenty of good reasons to book a holiday to Caleta de Fuste in Fuerteventura. The second largest of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura boasts a warm climate, fresh Atlantic breezes and rugged natural beauty.
While the island is great for sightseeing, families and more, it’s the excellent nightlife that I want to focus on in this post. Read on to learn about the great variety of spots on offer – and to get ready to plan your fun-filled getaway.
Introducing Caleta de Fuste
While Fuerteventura is pretty much a household name among UK holidaymakers, the town of Caleta de Fuste might be a little less familiar. South of the capital, it is unique in that it was developed almost entirely to serve tourists. This means its beaches are extraordinarily well kept, with most bars, restaurants and hotels nearby.
It also means that businesses have strong incentives to stand out by offering low prices, solid service and great entertainment. Here are some of the places that offer the best nights out in town.
Millennium Bar
The stylish, contemporary décor makes this place immediately stand out – and ensures you get some great holiday photos. It can be lively, with great music and an affordable happy hour, but you can also relax outside and enjoy table service and free snacks.
What to Drink
While the wine here is also well priced and good, Millennium is all about the cocktails. The menu mixes classics with modern favourites and some unique twists, including:

- Purple Rain
- Tequila Sunrise
- Pulp Fiction
- And many, many more!
Sports Lounge
At the other end of the spectrum is this sports bar. It acts as a great hangout spot for a relaxing, friendly time. International sports are available to watch, and the Sports Lounge’s popularity among Brits means that most of the big games from back home are shown.
Top Tip: If you feel homesick or just need a hearty meal, order one of your British pub favourites from the menu – selections include potato wedges, curry and steak and ale pie.
The Blues Bar
Aptly named, this bar uses an excellent collection of authentic memorabilia and an expertly curated record selection to immerse visitors in the dusky, dusty, old-time atmosphere of typical US blues venues. Live bands play three nights a week, bringing it to life with fantastic renditions of classics.
It’s also a great place to eat. Turn up before 4:30pm to catch the kitchen, but get here earlier to enjoy the highly regarded, hearty breakfast – perfect for bleary-eyed mornings after a night out.
Top Tip: Try out next-door neighbour the Sixties Bar for a similar experience shrouded in nostalgia.
Piero’s Music Café
Long opening hours and a wide range of entertainment almost every night make Piero’s Music Café and Restaurant perhaps the most fun place to spend a night out in Caleta de Fuste. Firstly, I should note the extended hours, running from 10am to 3am the next morning. Throughout this time, visitors can enjoy free entry, reasonably priced cocktails and excellent service.
Shows Every Night
Secondly, don’t let the name fool you – while many other bars in town have music, Piero’s is much more than just a place to grab a drink and listen to a band. Check dates and times for what shows are playing, but don’t be shy about just stopping by unannounced. There’s something on every night, with live acts starting at 9pm.
Take the Stage
Thirdly and finally, Piero’s offers great chances to get involved in entertainment yourself. From 11pm onwards, visitors can choose to sing along to one of 15,000 songs in a nightly karaoke session. Whether you fancy yourself a singer and want to test your skills out or just want to have a laugh with your friends, you’ll be welcomed onto the stage to give it a shot.
Where to Stay
Bungalows Castillo Beach –Less than a mile from Castillo Beach and only five from Fuerteventura Airport (FUE), this resort would be popular even without its amenities (which include a pool, fitness centre, restaurant and bar). Perhaps the best reason to stay here, though, is the accommodation itself. Built and decorated in traditional Canarian style, each apartment here comes with a private bathroom, living area, small kitchen and private terrace. If you want to relax in the lap of luxury and enjoy time with your friends in comfort, this is the place for you.
La Casita de Fuerte – Close to shops, bars and the beach, La Casita is another great hotel choice, rated among the best-value places to stay in one of the best locations in town. The rooms are set around a pretty central courtyard and come with a flat screen TV, balconies and a private bathroom. Guests also get access to an outdoor pool, a sun terrace and a bar, providing plenty of options on long hot days and rare nights in.
How to Get There
The first thing to note about flights to Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) is that prices can skyrocket during the school holidays. With this in mind, you’re best bet is to avoid August and nab a cheaper ticket when it’s still warm in the early autumn. The journey takes a little over four hours, and many airlines offer a direct route from a variety of UK airports.
