Discovering Paris’ Theme Parks with Young Kids

I am a parent myself and, although my daughter is not even two, she already identifies with many fairy tale characters. In fact, I am sure it won’t be long before she is asking to go to theme parks and all of the other magical places that we all know kids just love. With the creation of Disneyland Paris, granting the wishes of our little ones is much more convenient than it ever was, but it isn’t only the world of Disney on offer in Paris that will have your kids overwhelmed with excitement.

If you are heading across the channel for a fun filled weekend, it is worthwhile knowing that Paris has several theme parks that will captivate your little ones. Here is my guide to the best of the lot.

Fun For Your Little Ones in Paris

Simply magical, this iconic theme park has had children of all ages enthralled for decades. ‘Alice’s Curious Labyrinth’ and the ‘Disney Railroad’ are wonderful attractions for the very little ones, but ‘It’s a Small World’ and ‘Le Carrousel de Lancelot’ are the real highlights. Music, lights, characters, and atmosphere simply mesmerise, and if your kids are anything like the children I know, they will talk about this for a long time to come!

Travelling with youngsters can be tough but you can rest assured that if you book with Shuttle Direct, your children will be welcomed and taken care of just as any other client. Book a private vehicle in advance and take the worry out of organising your onward journey to Disneyland Paris. From Charles de Gaulle Airport, the trip only takes 45 minutes and costs just £13 per person. A small price to pay for a reliable transfer service that accommodates you and your kids!

If you are planning to really make the most of this famous theme park, book a multi-day ticket and you get three days for the price of 2. At only £106 per adult and £95 per child, it is a bargain. Open every day from 10am-11pm, you have plenty of time to see and do everything you want to.

Parc Astérix

Dolphins performance

Based on the lovable Gaul, Astérix, this theme park has really brought the French comic series to life. Children will love the chance to join Caesar’s army and try their hand in the ‘Roman Legion Training Camp’, or how about heading out on ‘Les Espions de Cesar’ to steal the magic potion brewed by the village druid? A ride on the ‘SOS Numérobis’, a medium sized roller coaster, is a great intro for mini thrill seekers.

If you are anything like me, airport transfers with toddlers can give you nightmares. However, book with Shuttle Direct, the professional and competitively priced transfer company that offers a door-to-door service and a personal greeting on arrival, and you will worry no more. Treating families with young tots as they would any other travel group, the team will take the stress out of the final leg of your journey. The transfer to Parc Astérix takes around 15 minutes and for prices you can enquire here.

At £39 for adults and £33 for under 12s, a day at this park is a bargain, but for even more exclusive offers, book online. The park is open every day from 10am-6pm through July and August. September, October and November opening times are limited to Saturday and Sunday, apart from during half term (19th October -2nd November) when they return to the summer schedule.

L’Île de Robinson

Perfect for rainy day amusement, L’Île de Robinson is geared specifically for 4-12 year olds and is based on the story of Robinson Crusoe. Kids can start their adventure in York, as the hero did, where they can get into costume and try out some role-play as well as explore the tunnels and secret passageways of the child-sized town. On the island itself, kids can let off steam on the climbing adventure trails and play with the wooden games and foam cannon balls. All the family can get involved and you can guarantee that even the ‘big kids’ will get a kick out of this one.

Airport transfers with toddlers can be a worry, but Shuttle Direct can help take some of that worry away from you. I know that when a member of the professional team meets me at the airport arrivals area, I breathe a sigh of relief! From here your personal driver takes you and your gang to your final destination, which can be to your hotel or straight to L’Île de Robinson. What could be easier? You can book in advance and look forward to a fixed price, comfortable and family friendly transfer. For £16 per person, the 25-minute transfer offers a great deal.

A day at this amusement park costs £12 for 4-12 year olds, although if you take three kids, your third only pays £10. Under 4s cost £6 and adults get in at a bargain of £4.

Open Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10am-7pm, except during school holidays when the park is open everyday. It closes at 6pm during July and August.
