A Buzzing Après Scene in Morzine

For those who like to burn the candle at both ends, it is crucial that there is an electric après scene at your ski resort so that you can let your hair down after a day on the slopes. If this sounds like your idea of a great holiday, then Morzine could be the resort for you.

Avoriaz in winter

By French standards, this is a lively après resort which encourages you to shred the slopes by day and party till the early hours in the many great pubs, bars and clubs. This great variety of evening options also ensures that there is always something to do no matter what mood you are in.

The Skiing

It is not just the wild parties that have earned Morzine a great reputation – there are also fantastic skiing opportunities at the resort. Morzine is found in the heart of the Portes du Soleil region, which boasts incredible skiing; it is impossible to get bored here!

Beginners – The village has nursery slopes conveniently located down in the village and a great range of ski schools; this will help novices to develop their technique and also boost their confidence.

Intermediates – Morzine, and the entire region, is a paradise for intermediates. There are miles and miles of intermediate pistes opening on three sides of the village which provides great variety. The entire region boasts a whopping 240 easy to intermediate runs.

Skiers set off down a piste in the Morzine resort, part of the Portes du Soleil ski area. A snow lance can be seen spraying snow from the side of the run.

Experts – The locals will be happy to show advanced skiers plenty of tricky runs both on and off marked pistes, but this is not a resort renowned for experts.

Boarders – Snowboarders are well catered for with a tremendous amount of terrain.  There is also a small local terrain park, plus much larger ones in the Portes du Soleil area.

The Nightlife

After a fun day of shredding the slopes, it is time for a well-earned drink (or two!). You are spoilt for choice in Morzine. One top tip – be sure to try the strong local beer, Mützig, which is sold in most bars and plays a big role in the party scene. Be warned, this can be as strong as 14%!

Other cheerful establishments include Chez Roger’s, Le Crepu, The Cavern and The Tibetan Café, but you are likely to stumble upon many more fun places during your trip.

Something More Sophisticated
