The resort has a much quieter feel to it than the main resort of Benidorm and is ideal for families with small children or for those wanting to experience a little more of the real Spain. There is a certain unique Spanish charm that still exists here and there are some lovely tapas bars and restaurants. The great thing about staying in Cala Finestrat is that you have all of the great nightlife and the atmosphere of Benidorm right on your doorstep but you can also escape it if you want to. Taxis from Benidorm are reasonably priced and very easy to organise.

A holiday here will see you combining a great beach experience with exciting water sports, wonderful boat trips and fantastic golf too. The old part of the main Benidorm resort is well worth a wander around and the harbour area is also very pretty.

If you have come to the Costa Blanca for the beaches and are staying in Cala Finestrat, you will find our low down on the beaches in the area very useful.

The Lowdown on The Costa Blanca Beaches

The Costa Blanca has a great mix of beaches and whether you prefer a sandy beach or a quiet cove, there is something here for everyone. All resorts in the area are well organised, clean and have sunbeds for hire as well as other facilities on hand. Beaches are generally very family friendly and there are some very good affordable places to eat and buy snacks.

The Benidorm beaches are all beautiful and in summer they are particularly lively and full of fun. Sand is soft and the beaches gently shelve into the water, making it very safe for children. Every night the beaches are cleaned up and made ready for the next day and the water is clean and clear.

Cala Finestrat is the quietest of the beaches in the area and although it is only a short walk from Playa Poniente, it is like another world. The genuine atmosphere is very Spanish and, alongside the English-style bars and pubs, there are some delightful Spanish places to eat, drink and snack. Playa Poniente is also very good for children and with its lovely seafront bars, charming feel and fabulous sunsets it has a friendly scene that is quieter than Playa Levante.

Playa Levante is a very impressive beach and one of the most popular in Spain, especially with the British. It is very lively and full of entertainment, excellent facilities and great water sports.

For more off the beaten track beaches, head to Almadraba and Ti Ximo which you can find further along the coast past Levante.
