Benidorm’s Stunning Calas Will Surprise You

Not much is said about these quiet, small, sometimes slightly remote beaches within the bustling city of Benidorm, but for those looking for some hours away from the crowds, they are a slice of paradise. Intimate and secluded, they invite you to simply put down your towel, put on your sunscreen, relax and sunbathe at your heart’s desire.

La Cala Finestrat

At the far end of Playa de Poniente you will find La Cala Finestrat. Favoured by locals, this small cove is superb for swimming and sunbathing, but still close to a great selection of bars and restaurants should you get peckish. Small children will have a blast here and parents will find it easier to supervise them than in the huge, more popular beaches nearby. The Playa del Mal Pas, often unnoticed by tourists, is located at the end of the harbour road and reachable from the La Señoría square in the Old Town. It is great for winter sun, as it is mostly shielded from the wind.

Cala del Tío Ximo and Cala la Almadraba

Finally, the Cala del Tío Ximo and Cala la Almadraba are gorgeous, tiny calas situated within a protected area past the Playa de Levante. They can be reached by foot by descending a steep walk – which may make it a bit too difficult for those with small children or limited mobility – but should be fine for everyone else. Bring your own food and drink for a typical Spanish day at the beach!
