An Inclusive Guide to Nightlife in Salou

Everything is more fun when the sun goes down and Salou is no exception. Whether you’re a student looking to party your socks off or you’re a family (yes, you heard me right – a family) looking for something to do in the evenings, you’ll find more than your fair share in this Spanish town. Read on for what to do after dark, from clubbing until dawn to finding a local restaurant where you can have your evening meal.

Nightlife for Party Animals

If your idea of a good time is going out, having a few (or many) drinks and staying out until the wee hours of the morning dancing and partying, Salou has got you covered. Summer is this city’s sweet spot, with August widely known for being the wildest month. The perfect area for anyone looking for a good time is Carlos Buigas, locally known as ‘Slammers’. It runs along the beach and offers a high selection of clubs and bars.

As soon as the sun goes down, the party begins. The people here will most likely be tourists in their 20s (whose nationalities tend to be British, French and Dutch) and will be down to get down at the clubs from dusk till dawn.

Here are some places you’ve definitely got to check out…

  • Kiss – If you like dancing while you’re out, you’ll love Kiss. It’s surrounded by lots of bars so you can get in some pre-drinks before you start busting a move.
  • Pacha – One of the most popular clubs in the city.
  • Murphy’s Sports Pub – Interesting enough, there are a large selection of Irish bars in Salou, and this is one of the best. Here you can order some drinks and a bite to eat. It’s even open during the day if you want to come back for a hangover pick-me-up meal.

Nightlife for Families

It goes without saying (at least I certainly hope it does!) that the above venues aren’t suitable for children. However, if you’re on holiday in Salou, you don’t have to slink back to your hotel just because the day has faded into evening. One street in particular, Calle Barcelona, features some intimate and relaxed Spanish restaurants and tapas bars. Even the main strip that is Carlos Buigas has some family friendly fare. There are lots of eateries there that cater to all ages and a number of ice cream parlours – just maybe plan to go on the earlier side if you’ve got little ones tagging along.

Where to Stay

Magnolia Hotel – If you’re one of the readers looking for a party-perfect holiday in Salou, the Magnolia could be the accommodation venue for you (families, skip to my next choice; this one’s adults only so no kiddies allowed). This hotel is stylish, modern and spacious, and features lots of great amenities such as a restaurant and 24-hour café, spa and swimming pool. It’s also got a fantastic location; it’s surrounded by lots of bars and eateries so you can start all your evenings off right.

Hotel Best San Francisco – This hotel is great for all ages (even the little ones). It features outdoor swimming pools, a hot tub, a buffet restaurant and a coffee shop. Its location, however, is perhaps its top attraction. It’s set right in the heart of Salou, is near a few different beaches and PortAventura Theme Park is easily accessible from it.

How to Get There

A flight from London to Reus Airport (REU) will clock in at just over two hours – so it might not be a bad idea to bring some light entertainment with you so you don’t get bored on the plane. Once you land, it won’t take you long to get to Salou at all. The journey is only 13 minutes by airport taxi, so you’ll be relaxing at your accommodation before you know it.

If you choose to take an airport taxi (and I sincerely recommend you do – I find it’s the easiest way to get to your final destination), my favourite service is Shuttle Direct. I like to pre-book with them online before I ever leave my house. That way, I don’t have to mess around with sorting out my transport once I arrive. Instead, a friendly driver is waiting for me as soon as my plane lands and all I have to do is hop in, sit back and enjoy the ride.

  • UK to REU Flight Time: 2 hours 5 minutes
