A Brief History
The liberation of Greece from Turkish occupation happened in 1833, and was a turning point for Pysrri. Immigrants from the provinces and veteran freedom fighters began settling and building workshops and other small industries – this gave the area the charming character it still has today.
Pysrri began its renovation period in the 1990s, and has since been a popular tourist spot for young travellers. Home to several unique and authentic bars, clubs and taverns, there’s no better place to enjoy a holiday with your friends.

The Party: This small bar is just a short walk from Iroon Square and ideal for music lovers. Live performances are scheduled for almost every night of the week, and the music style often varies. Pop and rock is played most frequently, but some nights are dedicated to jazz, with musicians sometimes providing workshops before the jam session begins.
Therion: Guaranteed to play fantastic alternative music, this club is extremely popular among younger crowds. Though relatively small and quite smoky, Therion has a brilliant atmosphere and always delivers a great night out.
7-Times Club: In a great location near the metro station, 7-Times Club is ideal for clubbers open to every kind of music genre. Prepare for a mixture of live and DJ music including rock, international, swing, jazz, funk and sixties.
Daytime
If you’ve had a night off the drink, you may feel able to explore a little more of Pysrri! There are all sorts of areas to explore, but thankfully nothing too challenging for fragile stomachs.
Music lovers will adore the small record shop selling a huge array of antique treasures, or the punk-fashion store called Remember Fashions just across from Beer-Time. Discover some vintage clothing in a store that has been visited by several famous rock stars.
Several restaurants are dotted around the area and are usually open throughout the day. Some serve more local produce whereas others can give you a taste of home with familiar meat dishes and salads.

How to Get There
Athens International Airport is the best destination to fly to from the UK. There are around 82 flights every week and six airlines fly direct, including Ryanair and British Airways. The flight duration is usually just over three and a half hours, so be sure to take plenty of entertainment for the journey.
From Athens, I would then recommend getting an airport transfer to your accommodation. It is best to pre-book these since this allows you to get going as soon as you land and start your holiday as soon as possible! A transfer from Athens to Psyrri should take just 40 minutes.
