3 Family Days Out in Lido di Jesolo

We all know how popular Venice is for a summer holiday. The iconic floating city draws millions of tourists to its compact streets every year to marvel at its beauty and unique character. While taking the kids to this once-of-a-kind city is a great experience, spending more than a couple of days there can be exhausting – not exactly the relaxing getaway you plan on. So, let me introduce you to the resort seaside town Lido di Jesolo, the family-friendly destination just next door to Venice.

Dedicated to beachgoers, this resort town is ideal for families with children of all ages, from the very youngest to the hard-to-please teens. Boasting more than 10km of golden beaches, this is the perfect destination for those looking for fun in the sun. But it’s not all about the beaches (although they are a main attraction), Jesolo has plenty to offer to keep everyone entertained such as fabulous restaurants, a fun Ferris wheel, water parks, beach clubs and more.

Here are three-day itineraries that go beyond the beach at Lido di Jesolo.

DAY ONE: Tropicarium Park

I love a visit to a great animal park with the kids, especially when the fun of building sandcastles begins to wane – and this particular one offers entertainment for the whole day. In fact, there are three different sections to this educational attraction (although, it’s more about the fun than lesson-learning) including the Tropicarium, the Aquarium and the Predators area. There is so much to see and learn here that even parents will find themselves absorbed in the beauty of the natural world on show. Get up close and personal with all kinds of creatures from geckos and butterflies to penguins and sharks – plus plenty more. There are three huge routes to choose from, which means more than enough to keep you occupied for the day.

DAY TWO: The Science Museum

Looking for more ideas to sneak some education into the holiday without the kids knowing? Head to the Science Museum, although it’s better known as the Science Factory. This is a great way to escape the midday sun and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of scientific discoveries. I love this as a day out for children as it’s very interactive, offering over 100 interactive scientific experiments from the worlds of biology, physics and the elements. Thanks to it’s “touch and try” approach, it’s also a great opportunity for children to make new friends and play, which is always a lovely memory on family holidays. If you are interested in making a visit, I would recommend purchasing tickets online beforehand so you can avoid the queues and get straight to the fun.

DAY THREE: Caribe Bay

While I have touted the previous two days out as fun for everyone, this attraction really will please everyone – from mum and dad to the youngest of siblings. Located in the centre of Jesolo, Caribe Bay is a Caribbean-themed waterpark that’s won multiple awards. Whatever you picture when you think of an award-winning theme park, Caribe Bay exceeds it. You’ll find all the best water rides here including the world’s only wave pool with a sandy floor. A few of my favourite features include the fortress, perfect for water cannon battles, the paradise lagoon where you can chill out with a tropical drink, and while the water rides are fun, there’s also a shallow lagoon perfect for paddling with little feet. Boredom does not exist at Caribe Bay.

Some of these attractions might not fill an entire day; everyone’s perfect day out varies. However, if you want to spend the morning at the Science Factory and the afternoon back at the resort, there is still plenty to do. As well as enjoying the sandy beaches, the Ferris Wheel is a must-try and makes for a fun family activity. And personally, a summer holiday is not complete without a stroll down the promenade after dinner with a delicious ice cream in hand.

Where to Stay

Hotel Beau Rivage Pineta – This 4-star hotel is a great all-inclusive option for families. Not only is it set in a beautifully cool pine wood, but the site has its own park and beach open to guests, as well as two swimming pools and a playground. This is a luxury escape for every family member.

Hotel La Brezza Frontemare – A family-run hotel that is literally a stone’s throw away from the beach, which means a day on the seaside is no hassle. When you want a break from the saltwater, there’s an inviting pool and a private balcony to relax on. If you plan on exploring by car, there’s also free parking available.

Ute Hotel – A budget-friendly hotel with its own private beach in the heart of Lido di Jesolo, making it a lovely base for exploring. It’s also well located to the harbour, from where you can visit Venice for a fun family day out.

How to Get There

There are two airports in Venice, so it’s important to make sure you book flights to the correct one. The easiest to get to is Venice Marco Polo (VCE) and I would also recommend pre-booking a Venice airport transfer. This saves you the stress of navigating public transport or long taxi queues, which is even more hassle with kids in tow.

Flights to VCE from the UK are pretty affordable, especially if you book in advance. Even in August, you can find flights for as cheap as £55 but the off-peak season is where you’ll find incredible deals. Airlines to choose from include Easyjet, Qatar, Wizz, and Ryanair all offering quick journeys of 2 hours and 10 minutes. Once you’ve landed, a pre-arranged airport transfer will ensure that your holiday can begin the moment you step off the plane.

Types of Transfer

When booking your transfer from Venice Airport to Lido di Jesolo you’ll find plenty of options to choose from. From vehicle type to budget, Shuttle Direct has a service to suit every client.

Taxi:

One of my favourite ways to travel is by airport taxi. Venice airport to Lido di Jesolo is a short drive so it’s a great way to experience extra comfort whilst not breaking the bank.

Shuttle Bus:

That being said, if you’ve got a lot of luggage (despite trying to pack light, little ones have to insist on bringing their favourite teddy) the shuttle bus is perfect for those looking for a reliable airport transfer. Venice airport to Lido di Jesolo will fly by in no time while chatting with fellow passengers as well.

Private Transfer:

Sometimes travelling with children can mean that having extra privacy makes it that little bit easier. That’s where the private transfer (Venice airport to Lido di Jesolo is pretty affordable) is ideal. It’s more comfortable and allows families some private space.

Minibus Transfer:

Last but not least there is the minibus option. There are so many options to choose from when it comes to booking a Venice airport transfer, but if you’re travelling in an extended family group, this shared transportation is perfect.

Choosing the Right Transfer

When it comes to the Shuttle Direct airport transfer selection, every option is going to guarantee a safe and smooth ride. However, there are a couple of things to consider when booking your service.

Cost: This is something that will be unique to every traveller. If you know that having some extra privacy will make all the difference to starting your holiday off on the right foot, then the more expensive private taxi (Venice airport to Lago di Jesolo isn’t too pricey though) is the one for you.

Convenience: The other important aspect to think about is convenience. If you’re travelling with three children and extra luggage, a larger vehicle such as a minibus will be better than a taxi. So keep this in mind when booking your shuttle.
