Magaluf is a very popular resort in Mallorca, and a particular favourite amongst British, Russian and Scandinavian holidaymakers. Although in recent years the resort has been well known as a hosting destination for stag weekends and package holiday makers looking for serious nightlife, some of the big hotel chains have made a push lately to improve the reputation of the resort, make it more upmarket and more accommodating for families.
Magaluf for Children
There is little doubt that Mallorca has a stunning coastline, wonderful beaches and a fabulous climate, making it perfect for families looking for a sun, sand and sea holiday. We have some suggestions below on what else there is for children to do when enjoying a holiday in the resort.
Beaches
Of course if it’s swimming, snorkelling, sandcastle making and paddling your children love, Magaluf has all the ingredients. With three wonderful beaches, all with crystal clear water and white soft sand, children have all they need for hours of fun. Older kids and teenagers can get involved in water sports such as jet skiing, banana boating, kite surfing and even scuba diving if they are old enough, while the little ones can enjoy the climbing frames located at the back of the beach.
The Waterpark
Water babes will really love a day out at The Western Water Park, which is themed as a western town and has a great selection of slides for kids of all ages. Here the little ones can test themselves on the Hurricane, play Crazy Racer and splash about in the Wild River. The Mini Park and Daky Park offer safe places for the tiny ones to have some fun too. Teenagers looking for a more adrenalin fuelled ride will get plenty of action on the 260m Mega Slide or the Big Hole, the longest slide in Mallorca.
Marine Life, Pirates and Jungle
Marineland is just 10 minutes from Magaluf and here kids can watch a well-organised dolphin show and marvel at the other marine life, that includes sharks, penguins and sea lions. Another really good show for children can be seen at the Pirates Adventure in the resort. Attracting a huge number of visitors every year, this one is a real highlight. There is an early show for kids and a later uncut version that is ‘adults only’. For more adventure, take the kids to the Jungle Parc, a short drive from Magaluf. Rope bridges, swings, slides and lots more keep the kids busy here. There is even an Explorer course for all the family.
