Cala Millor: Fabulous Family Fun On and Off the Water

Idyllically positioned along the sunny east coast of Mallorca, the popular resort town of Cala Millor is the perfect destination for a family holiday, no matter how old or young your children are. As well as its very obvious main attraction – the long sandy stretch of beach – there’s a pleasing array of attractions and activities to keep every member of the family occupied and happy.

Whether your stay in Cala Millor is just a few days as part of a longer break on Mallorca, or you plan on using it as your permanent holiday base, this vibrant, welcoming resort delivers on all expectations of sun, sea, sand, and a whole lot more.

Discover the Family Fun in Cala Millor

Even though it can be quite a busy resort, it’s still got a laid-back feel – which is ideal when you’re wrangling a family. Because it was purpose-built and is focused on the family holiday demographic, you’re never far from some kind of child-friendly attraction – be it a relaxing day on the sand or something a little more adventurous on and off the water.

Fun on the Beach

Voted one of the Top 20 beaches on the island, this gorgeous 1.8km stretch of sand has gained the coveted Blue Flag designation, which denotes it as safe, well-facilitated, and fabulous for families! There are excellent family-friendly accommodation options right on the beachfront, putting everything at your fingertips.

The beautiful fine white-sand shoreline is up to 35m wide in places, so there’s plenty of room for young ones to run around or paddle in the crystal-clear shallows. Older children have a selection of watersports to choose from, including windsurfing, sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, snorkelling and parasailing. Parents can get in some sunbathing and relaxation, with sun loungers and parasols available to hire, and there are plenty of places to get a snack, ice-creams, or a more substantial meal along the seafront promenade. Nobody gets bored on this beach!

Fun on the Water

There are so many activities to be enjoyed out on the water, as well, with a host of boat trips: day and half-day excursions, sunset tours, and various shorter jaunts up and down the coastline. Two that are particularly popular with children are the glass bottom boat trips and jet ski tours.

Glass bottom boat trips: Always a favourite with kids of all ages, a trip on a glass bottom boat allows you to get up close and personal with the local marine life. You can snorkel and dive in designated sites straight from the boat, and also visit some of the many small caves along the coastline. Choose from numerous routes depending on how long you want to spend on board and which direction you want to go.

Jet ski tours: Slightly older children and adults can enjoy the thrills of a jet ski (children over six can travel on the back with an adult), and a small group tour is a wonderful way to stay active, get some sun and do some exploring of the beautiful coastline. There are numerous operators offering the tours, and you can choose from various itineraries that take in multiple caves that are only accessible by water. The tours are led by an experienced guide and lifejackets are provided.

Fun on Land

While of course you’ll want to spend a lot of time splashing around making the most of the sea, the fun in Cala Millor also continues on land.

Karting: For mini rev-heads over the age of five (and adults!), a visit to Go-Kart Cala Millor offers hours of fun. There are several tracks to choose from, each very different, so kids will have a great time deciding on their favourite. Karts come in different sizes and speeds, from 250cc to 390cc, and are safe and well-maintained. Helmets are provided.

Fantasy Park: Adjoining the karting track, Fantasy Park is a dream destination for kids, filled to the brim with carnival rides, bouncy castles, trampolines, and mini animal themed water cruises. Spend an hour or spend the day…

Horse Riding: You don’t have to go far to get rural in Cala Millor. Rancho Willy’s is very close to the resort, and offers excursions starting at 90 minutes, as well as pony rides for the younger ones. It’s a fantastic way to see a bit of the island landscape, which looks quite different from the coastal areas, despite not being too far inland.

Safari Zoo: Also in very close proximity to the resort is this fabulous drive through zoo. There are over 600 animals in the park, including roaming monkeys, flamingos, giraffes and elephants, as well as lions and tigers in cages. You can drive yourself, or take the zoo bus. Prepare for adventure!
